How to Commission a Painting

I also offer commissions.  Have you're favorite photograph transformed into an original watercolor painting -- be it the splendor of your garden, your family heirloom, your beloved pet or your summer cabin.  E-mail your photo to me at [email protected], and we can discuss the best options to proceed forward. Of course, you can also start with the concept, such as "a painting of yellow tulips" or "a painting of black Arabian stallion running on snow", I would be happy to start with a selection of my own reference photos for you to choose from. I would involve you during the entire process, starting by provide a preliminary color sketch for your approval, after which I would require a 50% security deposit to cover the time and materials spent on the project, and email you the work-in-progress photos of the painting afterwards every 2-3 days.  Once the painting is finished, I will send you a photo of the finished painting before sending you a paypal invoice of the remaining balance, which is due after final approval of the painting by you before shipment.

If you would like me to frame the painting for you, please email me to let me know before the final payment. I can discuss the options of various frames with you and together we can decide what is the best option for your style preference and budget. The cost of framing would be incluided in the final paypal invoice I send you afterwards, and you will receive a photo of the framed painting before it is shipped out.

You will notice that a range of sizes are offered in each price category.  This allows me the opportunity to develop the best possible composition for your portrait, and enables you to customize it's size.  If you have a particular size in mind, I will do my best to develop the composition within those parameters.

Keep in mind that a painting do not need to be large to have impact.  Some of my most striking and award wining paintings have been in the three smallest sizes.  My style of zooming in on the subject works great when over matted to create a larger presentation.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

 
*Detailed Background:
Often I utilize blurred, out of focus background to contrast with and therefore emphasize the subject of the painting depicted in great detail. (You can see an example of such painting on the bottom left.) There is an additional charge of $25 - $100, depending on the size of the painting, for a complex detailed background as such elements require more time and materials to complete. (You can see an example of such painting on the bottom right.)
